Senior Systems Engineer
Location: FT Belvoir, VA

Job Description

The qualified candidate will possess the necessary qualifications and experience to function as an efficient member of a highly qualified team of systems engineers to provide direct IT operations and maintenance, life cycle replacement, capacity planning, testing and validation of new systems, performance tuning, upgrades and future design and implementation of the Classified and Unclassified server farm environments for the Directorate of Information Management (DOIM) Systems Support Section (S3). The candidate will also be required to understand a variety of complex, multi-platform IT infrastructure operations, processes and tools. The current server farm environments provide the necessary IT infrastructure to facilitate various mission critical services to the Ft. Belvoir Garrison and a variety of tenant and customer organizations which comprise a 10,000+ user customer base. The candidate will be required to act as the technical lead on a variety of Major Command (MACOM) initiatives. Responsibilities include the daily operation and overall health of the existing Active Directory infrastructure, the implementation, operation and maintenance of the existing Exchange 2003 infrastructure, the operation and maintenance of system management tools such as SMS and MOM, maintaining security requirements on systems to meet IAVA, HSPD-12, 509 and STIG compliance standards, the development of technical documentation detailing the integration of systems and system performance, performing impact analysis based on business requirements and existing system configurations as well as researching, evaluating and proposing new solutions to reduce administrative overhead by implementing automation enhancements.

Job Requirements

  • BS Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • MCSE on Microsoft Windows 2003 and ability to maintain level of certification
  • Shall be able to possess and maintain a valid drivers license, take and pass the Army Defensive Drivers (DDC)
  • Shall be able to lift objects weighing approximately 40lbs
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities and the ability to adapt to change as required
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Desired

5 years or more systems support and design experience. Ability to prioritize & meet multiple customer requirements to complete systems support tasks on time (90%) & on budget (10% variance). Ability to organize and coordinate simple to moderately complex projects. 4-7 years experience with Administering a Windows Active Directory Based environment on HP and Dell Hardware. Has 3-5 years experience with interfacing with developers and clients on system issues. 2 or more years experience supporting applications on Citrix Environment. Has 2 or more years experience supporting MS Virtual server 2005 and VMWARE (GSX and ESX).
