Sr. Systems Programmer (SMS)
Location: Woodlawn, MD
Type: Full-time Permanent

Job Description

  • Distribute and install Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and SSA proprietary software on Microsoft Windows Operating Systems under System Management Server (SMS) and/or Radia
  • Use hardware and software components of the Local Area Network (LAN) to test, distribute and install software
  • Use SMS Systems Management Software (SMS) to create and deploy SMS software packages to Field Offices, Office of Hearing and Appeals, Disability Determination Services, Paperless Service Centers, TeleService Centers and Regional Offices
  • Ensure that all SSA components involved in the release of application software to LAN sites have completed their activities
  • Using a combination of in-house reports and SMS generated reports monitor the success of each software deployment. To ensure a high level of success troubleshoot target devices that have not completed the installation process or have runtime errors using Microsoft network diagnostic tools and native SMS tools
  • Provide second level support to the field for problems pertaining to software downloads
  • Troubleshoot individual workstations and servers that have not completed or failed a software installation using SMS logs, Microsoft diagnostic tools and maintain a Problem Report record in a database or an excel spreadsheet that will include but not limited to name the Site, Ring, Workstation names, Location

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent work experience in the related field is desired
  • 4+ years experience with Microsoft SMS, Radia, Software packages, LAN, Vista
