Vienna, VA, November 10, 2006—Today MicroTech, an Information Technology (IT) and Network Support firm, announces it has been named “Veteran Entrepreneur (Vetrepreneur) of the Year” by the Veteran Business Journal (VBJ). VBJ accepts nominations of Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSB) from anywhere in the country. Criteria for nomination include the size of the company (i.e., number of employees), annual sale, percentage of growth revenue in 2004, 2005 and 2006 and projection for further growth.

“Everyone here at MicroTech is honored to receive this award from the Veteran Business Community,” explains MicroTech’s President and /CEO Tony Jimenez. “This recognition is perhaps the most meaningful of any of the awards MicroTech has received over the years because it honors the entrepreneurial spirit that lives and thrives among Veteran-Owned Small Businesses and it is recognition that comes from other Veterans who understand the challenges of transitioning from Military service to the corporate business community.”

Over the past year, MicroTech has followed a national trend of notable growth among Veteran and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned small businesses. According to a recent US Census Bureau report, Veteran and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned small business grew at a faster pace than the national average.

MicroTech’s success is nothing short of the American Dream. As the son of working class parents, Mr. Jimenez enlisted in the United States Army and worked his way up from Private to Sergeant, obtained a commission as a United States Army Officer and eventually retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Along the way Mr. Jimenez received countless awards, served numerous overseas tours (including several combat tours), earned a Bachelors Degree, two Masters Degrees and was recognized as a “Fed 100,” one of the top 100 Executives from Government, Industry, and Academia who had the greatest impact on the government information systems community. Shortly after retiring from the Army, he founded MicroTech an IT and network systems company based on his vision “to provide better solutions that incorporate knowledge, technology and innovation seamlessly”.

MicroTech applies its regimented process, enterprise IT experience, and state-of-the-art engineering solutions to integrate different technologies and create proven results that respond to clients' strategic needs. Mr. Jimenez’s success was due in part to what he calls “MicroTech’s diverse client base, exceptional customer relations, and their ability to help clients maximize productivity, reduce total cost of ownership and minimize the risk associated with technology upgrades and systems modernization.” Today, MicroTech has grown into a full service IT firm with revenues in the millions.
