Vienna VA, June 24, 2009—MicroTech President and CEO Tony Jimenez was selected by the U.S. Small Business Administration as the “2009 Veteran Small Business Champion of the Year for the Washington, DC Metro Area and the states of Virginia, Maryland  Pennsylvania, Delaware, and West Virginia. Jimenez was selected for this high government honor because of his “hard work, expertise, and commitment to small business.” A highly-decorated U.S. Army Veteran, Jimenez has received numerous industry awards in recognition of his support  for veterans and their families.

MicroTech (www.MicroTech.net) is one of the most highly-regarded and fastest growing network and IT enterprise management providers in the U.S. MicroTech provides Information Technology Support and Services, Management Consulting Services, Audio-Visual Telecommunications Design and Installation, and Product Solutions primarily to the Federal government and city, state, and local agencies – managing over half a million IT users daily.

“As an active advocate for Veterans in Business, being named the Veteran Champion of the Year award is an extra special honor,” said Tony Jimenez, President and CEO of MicroTech. “Organizations like the SBA have provided a significant helping hand to veterans as entrepreneurs. Their valuable guidance and support has helped level the playing field and made a difference for small business.”

Jimenez also dedicates a large amount of his time and effort serving on a number of Small Business and Veteran-related committees, boards and councils including the American Legion Economic Task Force, the American Red Cross of the National Capital Area, and the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs Small Business Council.

As an innovative small business leader always looking to give back to the Veteran community, one pilot program that Jimenez has recently launched at MicroTech is the “Wounded Warrior Redeployment Program,” training disabled veterans to operate IT Service Desks. Jimenez also is a sponsor of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, having a hand in raising over $4 million for wounded veterans.

In April, Jimenez testified before the US House of Representatives, Committee on Veterans’ Affairs about set-aside programs for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) like MicroTech.

“I’m committed to actively championing for veterans as entrepreneurs,” Jimenez said. “The Small Business field provides these heroes with unique opportunities to launch their own business and achieve success.”
