Vienna, VA – January 15, 2010—MicroTech hosted two highly successful consecutive nights saluting members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families at popular sporting events in the Washington DC area. MicroTech is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), one of the Top 25 Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses in the nation, and President & CEO Tony Jimenez is a decorated military veteran and passionate advocate of the men and women that serve our nation in uniform.

This was the first time an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event had ever been held in Virginia, and the popular Mixed Martial Arts competition sold out quickly. MicroTech sponsored UFC lightweight Gray Maynard in his headlining decision win over rival Nate Diaz at UFC "Fight Night 20,” on January 11th. MicroTech not only helped to sponsor the event at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va., the organization also hosted more-than-forty wounded patriots in attendance. The war wounded came from area military medical facilities; Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Bethesda Naval Hospital, and Fort Belvoir's DeWitt Army Community Hospital. Tony Jimenez presented UFC President Dana White and members of his management team with a plaque commemorating the event.

“The UFC has always been a big supporter of the military and veterans, and the sport is very popular with young people and especially the troops,” said Tony Jimenez. “Hosting wounded patriots at UFC Fight Night 20 was a great way to demonstrate our appreciation of their sacrifice for our country.” Jimenez had a hand in raising more than $4 million for the UFC "Fight for the Troops" charity event just over a year ago.

MicroTech was also the sponsor and host of “Military Appreciation Night,” January 12th at the Verizon Center, during the NBA matchup between the Washington Wizards and Detroit Pistons. In conjunction with the USO, the American Legion, and the Purple Heart Foundation, MicroTech provided 400 tickets to area service personnel, veterans, and their families, including a number of wounded patriots of the War on Terror.

This was a big undertaking for our organization, but so worth the effort to be able to host this special night for our troops,”said Jimenez. “We can never do enough to demonstrate our thanks for what these brave Patriots do to keep us safe. I sincerely hope everyone enjoyed this tremendous experience.”

At halftime of the NBA game, before an announced crowd of over 13,000, Jimenez was interviewed by the Voice of the Wizards, Dave Johnson, about the success of MicroTech, his passionate advocacy of veteran causes, and the value of hiring veterans. Jimenez then presented a commemorative plaque to Washington Sports & Entertainment President Peter Biché, who helped make the night possible.

The night’s related activities included an official Air Force Color Guard for the National Anthem, and the DC Army National Guard held a swearing-in ceremony for its newest members from the District.
