Vienna, VA – August 12, 2010—MicroTech, a leading technology systems integrator, has been awarded a 4-year NASA SEWP IV contract — U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs (VA) Bar Code Expansion – Positive Patient Identification (BCE-PPI)  — with a total value of $14.3 Million. The contract provides the VA with a Positive Patient Identification (PPID) solution focused on the labeling and administration of blood products using a wired or wireless environment. The bar code scanning technology used will increase patient safety by decreasing misidentification and vulnerabilities in the labeling of laboratory specimen at the point of collection.

One of America's Fastest-Growing Businesses, MicroTech has grown more-than-6000% in revenue since its launch in 2004. MicroTech specializes in government computing environments — managing over half-a-million technology users in the Public Sector daily. A Prime Contractor on more than 100 Federal projects and 20-plus contract vehicles, MicroTech offers access to 500,000 tech products and services across the government.

"This is another great opportunity for MicroTech to capably support the Department of Veterans Affairs and make a positive difference in the lives of our Nation’s heroes," said Tony Jimenez, President & CEO of MicroTech. "MicroTech offers superior integration solutions in the areas of Health care and IT support, and we are excited about fulfilling this critical need within the Veterans Health Administration.”

MicroTech is the No. 1 Contractor at the VA and offers years of experience and a deep understanding of the mission and goals of the Federal agency. Under a VA contract, MicroTech performed the largest Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) rollout ever, exclusive of Microsoft.

“MicroTech’s solid record of achievement with the VA, and valuable support to other Health care-related agencies, makes us the natural choice to provide this important solution,” Jimenez said.
