Vienna, VA – August 18, 2010—Technology systems integrator MicroTech has entered into U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Mentor – Protégé Relationship agreements with two early-stage businesses: OBXtek Inc. and Manzano Strategies. The GSA Mentor-Protégé program is designed to encourage and motivate GSA prime contractors to assist small businesses and enhance their capability of performing successfully on GSA contracts. MicroTech is currently the only designated Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) mentor with more than one protégé in the entire program.

One of America's small business success stories, MicroTech has grown more-than-6000% in revenue since its launch in 2004. MicroTech specializes in government computing environments — managing over half-a-million technology users in the Public Sector daily. A Prime Contractor on more than 100 Federal projects and 20-plus contract vehicles, MicroTech offers access to 500,000 tech products and services across the government.

To be eligible as a mentor, a firm must be a large business prime contractor, or a small business prime contractor that can provide developmental assistance to enhance the capabilities of protégés to perform as contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.

“We are very pleased to be in a position to offer a hand up to promising new companies like OBXtek and Manzano Strategies,” said Tony Jimenez, President & CEO of MicroTech. “The GSA Mentor – Protégé program plays an important part in teaming up small businesses with more established enterprises like MicroTech, where we can lend our experience, guidance, and considerable success in the Federal contracting arena.”

To be eligible for selection as a protégé, a firm must be a Small Business, Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB), Women-Owned Small Business, HUBZone Small Business, Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) or Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that meets the government definition of a small business concern.

“Manzano Strategies is proud to be associated with MicroTech,” said David Montoya, CEO of Manzano Strategies. “Under the leadership of Tony Jimenez and the guidance and responsiveness of Joe Glorioso, the fundamentals of our business have changed for the better. The award of the highly competitive GSA Mentor – Protégé program demonstrates MicroTech’s commitment to the Small Business community and Manzano’s ability to compete at the highest levels of government contracting.”

Albuquerque, New Mexico-based Manzano Strategies (www.Manzanostrategies.com) is a Veteran-Owned and 8(a) Hispanic-Owned Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) focused on Information Technology, Systems Engineering, and Public Relations Consulting services and solutions.

“We are thrilled with becoming a protégé of such an accomplished Prime Contractor as MicroTech,” said Ed Jesson, President of OBXtek. “MicroTech has proven their success in the government technology arena and is a catalyst to offer strong guidance and open the right doors for OBXtek in this field.”

Vienna, Virginia-based OBXtek Inc. (www.OBXtek.com) is an evolving SDVOSB that has developed a corporate reputation for customer service, quality, professionalism, and competitive pricing. The senior management of OBXtek offer over 100 years of collective global experience supporting all levels of government and know how to put the critical pieces of a worldwide solution together to solve government Information Technology (IT) requirements.

The Mentor – Protégé program is intended to foster the establishment of long-term relationships between small businesses and GSA prime contractors and increase the overall number of small businesses that receive GSA prime contract and subcontract awards.
